Looking at Pissarro

Last night there was an opening ("soiree", "dress Paris chic") of a collection of Pissarro's work at the National Gallery of Victoria. So there is a major French feeling in the city at present, just before the (British) Commonweath Games commence mid month. The exhibition is accompanied by heavy merchanising and also educational programs for schools and school teachers and also by "a series of screenings with a 'French Life' theme". Because of Pissarro's anarchist politics, the exhibition has also stimulated some blogger analysis in Australia. At the same time, there is a French Film Festival in Melbourne and other major Australian cities. Posted by Picasa
